Technology is wonderful-isn’t it? Teen hacker, Sam Wilson must have a neuro headset. Neuro headsets have replaced computer keyboards. Internet at the speed of thought! However, as he becomes familiar with the new technology, he is terrified when he realizes that if he can hack into anything on the computer, he can hack into someone’s brain (and control their mind) if the mind, or brain is linked to the computer system. Could consciousness itself be hijacked? A person’s memory could be erased, or their whole brain fried like a computer hard drive. If this power got into the wrong hands, evil could control the whole world. When Sam is hired to work in the nation’s cyberdefense network he has to keep this from happening, but has evil already taken control of the brains of those he works for and with? What will Sam have to do to make things right and give the country or the whole world back their own brains?

Her cousin and a “close friend of the family” set her up to be framed for the vandalism and “spring her” from the school they considered a jail all so she could help them in “the family business.” Now the problem gets worse. A very bad guy thinks her father took his priceless paintings (which didn’t belong to him either), and now he wants Kat to help him get the paintings back, or he will kill Kat’s father. Kat and her cousins and friend find where the paintings are, but can they steal them from a museum without getting caught? Can they get the stolen paintings back to the rightful owners, and put the bad guy in jail, or will they end up in jail or be killed themselves?

The prison called, Incarceron, is alive, and Finn is in it. They told him he was “hatched” there, but bits of memory are coming back to him. He knows there’s an outside world beyond the vast world of the prison, but who was he there? The prison was created by the intellectual elite to be a paradise, a beautiful mix of organic and mechanical material in an enclosed world, but it’s a horrible and dangerous place. It was meant to rehabilitate criminals, political dissenters, and other social parasites. Now the people in Incarceron live in a fabricated world with strict protocol that forbids the use of washing machines and more advanced techonolgies. Those who created Incarceron want to keep the people from ever creating or developing anything new, but some people on the outside ignore this protocol, developing new technologies in secret. Incarceron is completely cut off from the outside world that created it, except for the Warden, but where is it, and how does the Warden go back and forth? Go with Finn as he tries to escape the awful place, and with Claudia, the Warden’s daughter who discovers the truth about what happened to her childhood friend, Prince Giles, many years ago.
